Time for Me is based at New Horizons and its aim is to develop fun, informal leisure activities and groups for people over 50 living in the Borough who care for a family member or friend and who are unpaid. It promotes and runs a regular programme of social, leisure, health, and educational activities. Training programmes that the carers request are also arranged, for example First Aid and Relaxation.
Time for Me consults with the carers in developing the project and how activities are run, in order to meet their - the carers - changing needs. The project organises speakers on subjects that are of interest to carers, and develops training sessions of benefit to them. It also holds regular support groups, organises outings to places of interest and even meals out. Activities are free or low cost.
Through Time for Me, carers can improve their health and well-being, feel less isolated, be more informed, feel more confident, feel better supported and make new friends.
